Some problems are bigger than party politics.
They affect everyone.
They cost too much.
And they do not disappear just because a new government is elected.
This project is about identifying a small number of practical, National policies that all major political parties could support — and agree to keep in place, whoever wins an election.
Not ideology.
Not slogans.
Not point-scoring.
Just a shared core of policies that can make our Country work better for all of us, regardless of our political ideals.
Examples include:
Building essential government software in-house instead of paying vast sums to outside contractors.
Strengthening the Custodial system so it can cope with modern demands.
Improving how the Country prepares for - and responds to - national emergencies.
Reducing healthcare costs by producing essential off-patent medicines at cost for the NHS.
Identifying uncomfortable truths with our Energy Policies and our vulnerability to the whims of other Countries.
These are not left-wing or right-wing ideas.
They are simple, honest, "affects everyone", common-sense ones. The issues exist - and remain - whether we address them - or paper over them.
If parties can agree on nothing else, they should be able to agree on:
* Spending public money more wisely
* Protecting public health
* Making public systems and infrastructure more reliable
* Planning beyond a single parliamentary term
* Reducing our dependency on other Countries for our Energy.
The purpose of this site is simple:
To set out these ideas clearly
To invite responses and hopefully endorsement from political parties
...and to let the public judge whether they are sensible, achievable and vote-worthy.
This is not a place for attacking individual politicians or parties. There are already plenty of places for that, and they mostly produce heat rather than light.
This is about something more difficult: finding the limited number of things that could unite us — and actually improve how our Country functions for the benefit of all of us - regardless of our political views.
There is no paywall here.
Everyone gets to see all formally approved proposals.
There is no party affiliation, though all parties are welcome - and encouraged - to support our aims.
You do not have to agree with everything here.
Let's work together on what we DO agree upon.
If you think this approach is worth exploring, you can:
Read the proposals
Share them with others you think might share our views.
If you really understand and support our aims you can even help by downloading and home-printing a few flyers to let others in the area learn about us.
If you want to help with running costs, you can — but only if it is comfortable for you.
No pressure.
No guilt.
This is not about winning arguments. It is about building a small area of agreement in a very divided system.
That is harder than shouting.
But it is also more likely to work.
Be part of something different.
Be part of something that matters.
